18 kilograms of crystal meth: Zoll has encountered the largest amount to date in Berlin and Brandenburg

Almost 100 kilograms of narcotics with a street value of more than four million euros: Customs has struck a blow against suspected drug traffickers in Berlin. The investigators also made a record find.

The largest amount of the dangerous drug crystal meth in Berlin and Brandenburg to date has been confiscated by customs. 18.1 kilograms of the synthetic drug as well as almost 30 kilograms of cocaine and around 47 kilograms of ecstasy were found by customs on Tuesday during searches and the arrest of a three-man gang of dealers, as announced on Thursday.

Representatives from customs and public prosecutors spoke of an outstanding drug discovery with a street sales value of around four million euros and a severe blow to drug trafficking.

The drugs had been smuggled into Berlin from the Netherlands and Poland and were to be sold throughout the city. This so far largest crystal meth find is a sign that this drug has now increasingly arrived in Berlin.

The customs investigation had searched several apartments on Tuesday with the help of special forces. The three suspected men have been arrested and are on remand.

In the Netherlands, the largest laboratory for the production of crystal meth to date was discovered there only in the summer. According to the information, more than 100 kilograms of the drug could be produced in the laboratory per day – with a commercial value of around one million euros. Crystal meth – another name for methamphetamine – is ascribed a high potential for dependence and a significant health risk.
