Disillusionment instead of euphoria: Hamburger SV suffered their next defeat in the fight for promotion. Chaser Heidenheim exerts pressure. Rostock gets a point on coach Glöckner’s debut.

Missing the leap to the top of the table and the pursuers lying in wait: At Hamburger SV, disillusionment set in at the end of the year in the 2nd Bundesliga.

On the second day of the English week, coach Tim Walter’s team suffered their fifth defeat of the season with a 0-1 (0-1) loss at SpVgg Greuther Fürth after two wins in a row. Although HSV remains in second place after the 16th match day, 1. FC Heidenheim on relegation rank reduced the gap to one point with a 4:3 (2:0) win at SV Sandhausen.

Hannover 96 is four points behind HSV in fourth place. Hannover already beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-0 the day before. Nils Fröling secured a point for Hansa Rostock in the game against 1. FC Nürnberg on the debut of the new coach Patrick Glöckner, who only succeeded his predecessor Jens Härtel at the beginning of the week. Fröling scored in stoppage time (90+1 minutes) for Rostock to make it 1-1 (0-1). The guests from Franconia, for whom Fabian Nürnberger (5th) was successful, could not leave the relegation zone. Jahn Regensburg and Eintracht Braunschweig separated 1:1 (1:1).

HSV didn’t like the early pressing by Fürth

HSV got out of rhythm. Instead, the people of Fürth celebrated, who brought in their third win in the third game under the direction of their new coach Alexander Zorniger. The guests did not like the early pressing by Fürth in the opposing half. U19 international Armindo Sieb scored the decisive goal in the 8th minute. HSV is expecting SV Sandhausen in the next game at the end of the first half of the season on Saturday (1 p.m.).

Sandhausen played a turbulent game with Heidenheim, in which the guests were lucky to win in the end. Tim Siersbleben (31st), Tim Kleindienst (40th), Christian Kühlwetter (48th) and Kevin Sessa (73rd) scored for Heidenheim. Merveille Papela (50th), Christian Kinsombi (76th) and Alexander Esswein (80th) could only shorten for Sandhausen. Thus, Heidenheim is again involved with vehemence in the fight for promotion.

Leaders Darmstadt 98 can pull away from their pursuers at the end of the 16th matchday with a win at 1. FC Magdeburg.
