Father thinks daughter is a burglar and shoots
In the US city of Columbus, a father suspects a burglar in the house and opens fire. But the alleged burglar turns out to be the man’s daughter. The teenager dies of her injuries shortly after being admitted to a clinic.
Because he apparently thought she was a burglar, a man in the US state of Ohio shot his 16-year-old daughter. The family man opened fire on the teenager in the garage of his house in the city of Columbus on Wednesday night, the newspaper “The Columbus Dispatch” reported. The youngster was seriously injured and taken to a hospital and, according to the police, died there about an hour later.
According to the local newspaper, the 16-year-old’s mother alerted the police at around 4:30 a.m. In the minute-long emergency call, according to the newspaper, the two parents can be heard desperately talking to their daughter. According to the report, the alarm system had apparently previously been triggered.
“When someone pulls the trigger on a pistol, it is very important to know what the target is,” a police representative told ABC6. According to the Columbus Dispatch, it was the seventh homicide in a week and the third in three days in the city. In total, there are 202 incidents this year.
