Where to install the outdoor bathroom?
The outdoor bathroom must be intimate and comfortable. We therefore take care first to choose the right location and, if necessary, to do some work.
In this outdoor bathroom, we opted for the island bathtub. It was a matter of having a suitable water supply and drainage system. It therefore finds its place on a platform that conceals the piping. In order to create a more intimate space, the palisades are coupled with a partition – an element which also makes it possible to install some storage.
Originally, the pool house was intended to serve as changing rooms near the swimming pool. It can accommodate a chill space such as a living room, toilets, but also an outdoor bathroom.
The terrace generally houses garden furniture and, sometimes, the outdoor kitchen. You can also build a bathroom there! In case of vis-à-vis with a building in height, think of the pergola, which makes it possible to grow vegetation or to install cannisses, but also to protect the bathroom from the direct sun and small bad weather.
The outdoor bathroom can be installed as a direct extension of your bathroom. This type of layout transforms a master suite into a space worthy of a palace, because it provides enough space to install a shower, a bathtub and even a spa.

Here, we have accentuated the demarcation created by the roof by installing a plant screen in the extension of the half-partition which accommodates the basin, as well as spacious storage and even a large mirror.
An outdoor bathroom made to last
When designing an outdoor bathroom, it is important to think long term. So we always take into account the region and the climate!
The shower is a classic equipment of the outdoor bathroom. If you prefer the bathtub, be sure to choose materials that will withstand the weather and temperature variations. If you like the idea of a heavily vegetated outdoor bathroom, adapt your plantings as well. In this bathroom with a romantic atmosphere, we opted for the combination of succulents and climbing roses.
Lighting is an essential element in the outdoor bathroom. You can opt for traditional or solar lights. Just be sure to think carefully about the lighting. Here, we opted for targeted lighting to secure access, and for diffuse ambient lighting to relax in the bath.
An outdoor bathroom with character
Whether nestled at the bottom of the garden or attached to the house, it is important not to neglect the aesthetic aspect of the outdoor bathroom.
Follower of the jungle spirit? Be inspired by Bali’s outdoor bathrooms! To recreate this style at home, you can use a trick: exotic plants in pots, which you can overwinter.
