A 12-year-old child who was riding an electric scooter with his twin brother died Monday at the end of school in Saint-Amour (in the Jura), in a collision with a car, said the prosecutor of Lons-le -Saunier.

The accident happened during lunch break when the two boys had just left school. According to the first observations, “it seems that they did not mark a stop” before a violent collision with a vehicle, told AFP the public prosecutor of Lons-le-Saunier, Lionel Pascal.

Speed ​​in the field of investigations

The electric scooter rider died and his twin brother was taken to Besançon hospital. The latter suffers from minor injuries to his legs, he added. According to the magistrate, “the question of the speed of the scooter comes within the scope of the investigations, because it would seem that it was going too fast”.

Hearings of witnesses to the scene and occupants of the car involved, particularly shocked, were underway on Monday to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
