11 years in prison for a white supremacist, guilty of having inspired killings in the United States

Daniel Harris, a 19-year-old Briton, was sentenced by a Manchester court to 11 and a half years in prison for making and broadcasting videos calling for armed insurrection.

According to the prosecution, this white supremacist, described as a “propagandist defending an extremist right-wing ideology”, inspired two killings in the United States.

He was arrested last May two days after the racist massacre in Buffalo, upstate New York, in which 10 black people were murdered.

His videos have also been linked, still in the United States, to the shooting that killed five people in a gay club in Colorado Springs last November, even as the young Briton was on trial.

Accused hailed Christchurch massacre

Hailing from the north of England, Daniel Harris was found guilty in December of five counts of incitement to terrorism and possession of terrorist material because of a 3D printer he wanted to use to make weapons.

Judge Patrick Field said he had “no hesitation” in concluding that Daniel Harris was “highly dangerous”, referring to the killings inspired by his videos.

“What (their authors) did was shocking but it was nothing more than what you wanted to encourage to do by publishing such content online,” he said.

In his videos, Daniel Harris notably glorified the murder of 51 Muslim worshipers in a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, by a white supremacist in 2019. According to British media, he faces extradition to the United States.
